Hello! My name is Dillon, and I am currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Environmental and Life Science Program at Trent University in Peterborough Ontario. I specialize in soil microbial ecology, with a keen interest in how soil microbial communities impact carbon cycling in agricultural soils.

My Journey
Prior to joining academia, I worked in the culinary industry for over 10 years, obtaining my Red Seal in the trade. I began my academic journey at Trent University, where I pursued a B.Sc. in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems. My passion for agroecology and integrated pest management led me to further my studies at the University of Guelph, where I earned my M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, focusing on conservation biological control and pollinator conservation in the Holland Marsh. Before returning to Trent, I worked for the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario as the Research and Soil Health Program Manager, focusing on farmer-led research and soil education and Lakehead University Agricultural Research Station, managing small plot variety and production trials for grain, oilseed, pulse, and forage crops in northwestern Ontario.
